We are a family-run winery in the fourth generation with headquarters in Rheinhessen.

In the course of over 100 years, our family developed out of company founder’s Adam Trautwein’s small wine estate one of the most important wineries in Germany.

Uncompromising quality awareness, cutting-edge technologies, and a trustful cooperation – that’s what our name stands for.

HISTORY

Already in the 19th century, the Trautwein family engaged in winegrowing. In 1909, Adam Trautwein founded the winegrowing and trading company named after him. His son Wilhelm, grandson Wolfgang, and great-grandson Johannes all followed in his footsteps and continue to run the company.

THE GROUP

We are a family-run winery with headquarters in Rheinhessen. From the wine estate of the company founder Adam Trautwein developed over the course of 100 years into a group of companies centered around wine as a cultural asset. Uncompromising quality thinking, state-of-the-art technologies, and a trustful cooperation – this is what we stand for with our name.

PHILOSOPHY AND QUALITY

We value personal contact with our customers, suppliers, and employees and maintain a relationship of trust with our business partners.

Wine quality begins in the vineyard. Through long-term supply and purchase contracts with the producers, we exert influence on the cultivation of the grapes in the vineyard and on the time of harvest. By purchasing grapes and musts, we optimize the quality of the vinified wines at an early stage. During the vinification process, we attach great importance to permanent quality controls.

For several years, certificates from independent companies have attested to the success of our quality efforts. Thus we are certified according to IFS (higher level), SGF International, DE-Öko-005, as well as by the DLG.

Our customers regularly win awards for the quality of their products at tastings.

With the help of continuous investments in technology and buildings, we can meet our quality standards and increase our capacities. Various quality- and capacity-increasing measures were supported by the EU investment subsidies, for which we would like to express our gratitude at this point.
 

SUSTAIN­ABILITY

We feel responsible for our environment and continuously strive to save resources.

An important element of our sustainability philosophy is the production of regenerative energies by means of large-scale photovoltaic systems on our hall roofs.

Our winegrowing wastewater is treated with the help of our own anaerobic water treatment plant. We feed the waste product methane gas into our plant as heating energy.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We feel committed not only to our customers but also to our employees and producers.

EMPLOYEES

Our employees are an essential part of our success story. We can count on the experience of many long-term employees. As a training company, we introduce young people to industrial and commercial professions in the winery. At the same time, we live flat hierarchies and are committed to the health and well-being of all employees.

PRODUCER

Many winegrowing families entrust us with their products in the third generation. Within the framework of long-term supply and purchase agreements we also contribute to secure the existence of family-run wineries and to preserve the cultural landscape shaped by them. Over the past 30 years, we have also finalized contracts with a large number of producer associations in various winegrowing regions. Together with our customers, we develop quality projects and thus offer our suppliers the perspective for better added value.
